The first project bike is the Black Cloud. This bike is owned by us and is being built to show and sell. We purchased the bike on Feb 13th and while working on several bikes at the same time we were able to paint the bike on April 11th. We are doing a spider theme on this similar to the brown recluse. We should have the graphics done this evening and will be able to recoat with clear and buff and polish and have it mostly together this weekend. Jeff made spider webs for the swing arm, under the gas tank, and between the handlebars. They are presently at the chromers, hopefully ready this week. A small cool item Jeff made was an ignition switch housing. The new new switch housing is just under the seat and close to the battery making wiring shorter and neater. Less wires to run up or in the backbone. You can see all the welds are molded into the frame making for a clean look. It really is a lot of work but is well worth it in the end. We elected to paint it Pearl White with spider graphics. You just gotta love the looks of this long lean machine with a 250 back tire.
Update
Jeff got the parts back from the graphics artist and proceeded to add 2 more
coats of clear. After that was done it was left for a few days to cure. Friday
night Jeff started to assemble the Black Cloud. The new graphics really make
a big difference. Below are a few photos. None of the wiring or plumbing is done
as of yet but hopefully it will be finished around the 10th of May. I will
then add new pictures of the finished product.
Next project is for a young minister to be, Nick Lang. He came to us with a frame and 2 wheels and wanted to design his own bike with a religious theme using all Jireh parts. With very little assistance he came up with this creation as it is now. We hope to paint it this weekend and do the graphics early next week. He decided he wanted steel crosses on both sides of the swing arm, custom cross headlight bracket for a springer front end, all with an old school look with a little modern technology added such as the LA Choppers pipes. The crosses on the swing arm will be back light with 8000 mcd led's to make the crosses glow. There will be a scene of an angel with the devil in a headlock on the gas tank, painted crosses on the fender, oil tank, and rear fender. As seen in the pictures the tank has been extended to fit the seat with a triangular piece of steel welded to the gas tank to give the seat a look of blending into the tank. Definitely different. More pictures to come as progress continues.
Next is a Fat Bastard kit from Dennis Connors. I met Dennis at Jireh. He was having a small problem with his wires and after talking to him he drove back to our shop and looked over our facalities. It didn't take him long to make the decision to have us build the bike. He just does not have the time plus we are set up to do everything from fabricating raw steel parts, fiberglass parts, body work and paint to finish. We also have several air lifts that make fabricating much easier on the back.
One of the first things we do is custom fit the gas tank. Here you can see the typical mounts on the gas tank and the added brackets on top of the frame that are not necessary in this applicaton. All unnecessary brackets will be ground off and eleminated. You can also see how the seat fits around the tank. The tank is extended and custom cut to fit around the seat with even spacing. You can see here the gas cap extends above the tank. When finished the cap will be level with the tank. The neck will be molded for a more complete look. The bottom of the tank us covered with weld spatter that will be ground off and cleaned up to look like the rest of the tank. More pictures to come.
